+ your first name and class + author + title + age group + reasons The most mysterious book I have read lately is 'Wonderstruck', another book from Brian Selznick, who wrote 'The Invention of Hugo Cabret'.
A boy named Ben sets out to find the father he has never known after finding a puzzling clue in his mother's bedroom. Ben's story, set in new York in 1977, is told entirely in words. Interspersed with Ben's story is Rose's story, which takes place fifty years earlier and which is told entirely in Selznick's exquisitely-detailed drawings. Rose dreams of meeting a fascinating actress and keeps a scrapbook about her. How the two stories come together and how both find the place where they belong in the world is truly awe-inspiring. This book is unputdownable. Bronwyn Lock Library Turramurra Public School What are your favourite books? In the comments section, remember to include:

When feisty, twelve year old Max and her friend, Linden, succeed in retrieving the secret component to complete Max's uncles' ingenious new invention, the Time and Space Machine, they are invited to join the elite international intelligence agency, 'Spyforce'. They now have access to a vast array of potions and high-tech gadgets to fight crime across the globe. As Deb Abela says, 'There is no vat of green jelly too slimy, no nightmare vortex too scary, no bad guys too evil and no undercover disguise too ridiculous' for Max and Linden to complete their missions. Ten books - great fun! Because I loved the CBCA novel winner, 'Children of the King' so much, I looked for other books by Sonya Hartnett and found 'The Silver Donkey'. It's about two French girls and their brother who find a young English soldier hiding in the forest, escaping from the army. He is blind because he has seen too much of the horrors of war and is desperate to return to his sick brother in England. How they help him and the stories he tells kept me turning the pages right to the end. I watched The Hobbit in 3D over the Christmas break. Overall, I thought it was very good. I did, however, find the beginning dragged a bit. The book was always a very fast moving adventure. Maybe two movies in the series would be enough? How did you find the movie compared to the book? Again remember - just use your first name and class, no surnames. What are your favourite books? In the comments section, remember to include:
