When feisty, twelve year old Max and her friend, Linden, succeed in retrieving the secret component to complete Max's uncles' ingenious new invention, the Time and Space Machine, they are invited to join the elite international intelligence agency, 'Spyforce'. They now have access to a vast array of potions and high-tech gadgets to fight crime across the globe. As Deb Abela says, 'There is no vat of green jelly too slimy, no nightmare vortex too scary, no bad guys too evil and no undercover disguise too ridiculous' for Max and Linden to complete their missions. Ten books - great fun!
I'm enjoying the 'Max Remy Super Spy' series by Deborah Abela.

Holy Bagumba! Kate DiCamillo's newest book in our library, 'The Illuminated Adventures of Flora & Ulysses' teams a natural-born cynic with an unlikely superhero! When Flora Belle Buckman sees an unassuming squirrel sucked up by her neighbour's new super-powered vacuum cleaner, she sets out to save him. The appliance regurgitates him and Flora finds him minus some fur but empowered with poetic thoughts and super-squirrel strength. Together they undertake some villain-vanquishing challenges. You will laugh out loud at these endearing characters and the original comic-style illustrations.

I've just finished reading,"Otherwise known as Sheila the great" by Judy Blume. When Sheila goes on holiday to Tarrytown she is finding it difficult to fit in. Her new friend, Mouse, yo-yo champion of Tarrytown thinks she is scared of everything and though Sheila is scared of pretty much everything she's determined to show that she can be Sheila the great. But when she hears about ghost stories all her hopes are gone of showing her friends that she is not a chicken. This is an enjoyable story for kids around 8-12 years old. But this is still going to make you think that "I wish I had these adventures!'
